The tension was finally over for Spurs fans over the issue of signing a striker before the transfer window closed today (31.08.02), when Robbie Keane was introduced to a delighted crowd by Martin Chivers before the game against Southampton.
Chivers said that the medical was over, and the dotted line was signed, and that Robbie had signed a five year contract. Robbie said and did all the right things. He paraded with his new number 22 shirt, and proudly displayed it for all to see. He was clearly delighted to be with us, and no doubt will be looking forward to more starts than of late at Leeds.
Robbie said he was looking forward to scoring lots of goals for "Tottenham Hotspurs" (sic), and enjoying success at the club. He could be seen sharing animated conversation with Glenn Hoddle in the director's box. Glenn was later quoted as saying that it would be good for Robbie to be playing for us, and that it would be good for us to have Robbie in the team, as he brings a dimension to our play not seen for a couple of years.

So...welcome aboard Robbie - just get the name of the club right next time, eh?!!
