Charlton won their first Premiership game since 18th March, when they beat Bolton 2-1 last Saturday with goals from Paul Bart-Williams and Jason Euell, after going a goal down at The Reebock Stadium. That previous win was at White Hart Lane, when Spurs succumbed to a Chris Powell goal in another dismal showing by those in white.

Charlton's last home win was against Chelsea in early March, and they were somewhat unfortunate to lose in the repeat game on the opening day of this season, when the Blues came back from 2 - 1 down to take all three points. Last season at The Valley, we arrived in hope of going second in the table (albeit temporarily), but came away with our tails between our legs, as Dean Richards was probably exposed for the first time as being fragile against pace, and also liable to make stupid errors.

Canadian keeper Lars Hirschfield will be with the Spurs squad, as Neil Sullivan now has a broken thumb to add to the already long list of injuries for Spurs. I anticipate a more defensive line-up to that which played against Villa, with Goran Bunjevcevic likely to start either in a three man central defence, or beside Jamie Redknapp, at the expense of Matthew Etherington or Milenko Acimovic. Despite the injuries, Glenn still has various options, with Ben Thatcher only too eager to take part, perhaps in place of Christian Ziege, who cannot be fully fit yet.

Ever the optimist, I'll go for a 2-1 win to Spurs, but the home side will be using their pace to put us to the test again.
