Can Spurs beat their last winning run?

Spurs' current 4-match winning run is their best since October 2001, but you have to go back to September - October, 1995 to find the last run better than 4 successive wins. If Spurs should manage to win at The City of Manchester Stadium next Sunday, then it would be their best run of wins for over 8 years.

Note that we did have a 16 match unbeaten run between December 26th 1998 and February 24th 1999, under that man Graham, but that included a few boring 0-0 draws, as you might expect. You can check out this record here

For the record, Spurs run in 1995 was as follows:-

09.09.95 Spurs 2 Leeds 1
(Howells, Sheringham)
16.09.95 Sheff Wed 1 Spurs 3
(Sheringham (2) + o.g)
20.09.95 Spurs 4 Chester 0 (Lge Cup)
(Armstrong (2), Sheringham, Rosenthal)
25.09.95 QPR 2 Spurs 3
Sheringham (2 - 1 pen), Dozzell
30.09.95 Spurs 3 Wimbledon 1
Sheringham (2), + o.g
04.10.95 Chester 1 Spurs 3
Sheringham (2), Howells

The run came to an end with a 1-0 home defeat against Nottingham Forest. Teddy Sheringham scored no less than 10 goals in those 6 matches, and scored a total of 24 all season, whilst Chris Armstrong scored 21 in his best season for Spurs. We finished the season in 8th place, missing out on a UEFA Cup place as we could only manager a draw on the last day at St. James' park, when a win was required.

The players used during that run included:- Walker; Austin, Calderwood, Mabbutt, Wilson; Anderton, Howells, McMahon, Dozzell, Rosenthal, Campbell; Sheringham and Armstrong.

It's early days yet to be talking of beating this record, but at least Spurs are now beating teams above them in the league (Birmingham, Liverpool). I do have to admit that technically, Leeds were above us when we played them in the second match of the campaign, as they had 1 point to our nil, and Everton were also above us, but generally, we have all too often failed to beat such teams over the last couple of seasons.
