It was a cold evening with a late pitch inspection due to heavy rain in the area. The pitch was heavy and cut up quickly. A good sized crowd turned up which seemed to have caught out the organisers, who only had two turnstiles open for the paying public. Plymouth did provide a good match programme, which had to list the two squads as the team selection was made on the day.

Spurs lined up with a fairly familiar line up. Caulker and Butcher at the back with Smith on the right and Byrne on the left. Parrett and Bostock were in centre midfield with M単oku on the right and Townsend on the left. Mason was in support of Obika up front.

Spurs kicked off the match attacking the west end but the home side provided the first chance with a dangerous cross from the right by Edwards. Spurs' first chance came from a free kick from about 20 yards out that Bostock curled around the wall but Brooks saved easily. Ryan Mason got down the left twice to put in crosses. The second was only inches away from M単oku at the far post. Brooks saved from Mason and Parrett before Spurs took the lead. Townsend had switched flanks and came inside with the ball playing Mason in through the right channel who finished smartly.

Head latched onto a ball over the top but his shot was weak under pressure from Butcher and Jansson saved. Five minutes later Argyle almost scored from a corner. Head lost his marker and had a free header at the near post. Ryan Mason cleared at the foot of the post. Plymouth were punished for a loose pass across the back that went straight to M単oku. The Congolese player took it to the edge of the area and curled it into the far top corner to increase the visitors' lead. The home captain Hodgkinson was booked for a late challenge on Townsend, but Mason put the free kick over. Edwards had an effort deflected wide for a corner. M単oku headed over from a Spurs corner.

There were no changes at the start of the second half and the home side went close from a corner when Mason fired wide. Joe Mason took a free kick that Jansson saved as Plymouth started strongly. A free kick into the box by Townsend should have resulted in a goal but Butcher and M単oku got in each other's way. Another corner saw Hodgkinson head wide. Townsend played Mason in again, but this time the ball came back off the crossbar. Bostock drove the ball in low, but it went just wide of the far post.

An attempted clearance was blocked by Obika who recovered quickly and played the ball left into the path of M単oku who had a clear run in on the keeper who scored his second goal with a shot under Brooks. Caulker saw his header from Townsend痴 corner cleared off the line as Spurs took control of the game. Bostock fired wide and Mason blasted well over and Brooks saved from Townsend. Brooks then saved from Mason at close range with the ball going out of the area where Parrett drove it back in for the Plymouth keeper to save at the near post.

Edwards was booked for a late tackle on Mason. Inglethorpe wanted to give other players a run out. After making sure that Mason was okay Kasim came on for Bostock. Grant had a chance for the home side but fired over. Oyenuga came on for M単oku and had a chance within two minutes when the keeper saved at his feet. Ryan Mason went into the referee痴 book disputing a call that went against the visitors. With time running out Ryan fired over from a corner. Inglethorpe sent on Nicholson in place of Byrne to waste a little time. There was still time for Head to get a yellow card for a late challenge.

This was a fairly easy game for Spurs with the home side not causing many problems. Their skipper Hodgkinson was very aggressive throughout the game hassling players off the ball and going in hard whenever the opportunity arose. Obika was on the receiving end of one tackle which was after the whistle had gone for another foul. Argyle were still in with a chance until the third goal which was another mistake by them. Spurs now look forward to a home game in the next round with the gooners the visitors. This will be played at WHL so hopefully there will be a big crowd to cheer them on. With no matches played last Saturday Spurs are still top of group B and the gooners are top of group A.

The U18痴 entertain Bristol City at the Lodge this Saturday with a noon kick off.
