Qualification should be assured here

Spurs can, and should, ensure their qualification for the Europa League's "Round of 32" against their last visitors of the Group C phase - FK Partizan.

While Spurs were struggling and were arguably lucky to hold on to a 2-1 win in Tripoli, Greece against Asteras, Partizan were arguably putting up one of their best shows of the campaign, losing only 2-1 in the hotbed of the Besiktas Stadium, where Spurs must travel for their last Group C game next month.

Partizan's only point in their 4 games came in the home match against Spurs in September, when we drew 0-0 on a bobbly and difficult pitch. They lost at home to Besiktas 4-0, and also lost away to Asteras Tripolis. Asteras could still qualify by beating both Besiktas in their Matchday 5 game, and then when they end their campaign in Belgrade. Besiktas, along with Tottenham are favourites to go through, and Spurs will probably need something from their match in Istanbul to stand any chance of finishing as leaders of the Group, thus avoiding a Champions League drop-out team.

Domestically, Partizan are still flying at the top of their league, 6 points ahead of Red Star, their local rivals. Since playing Spurs at home, they've won 8 of their 10 domestic games, which include two cup ties. They have lost 1 and drawn one league game.

Partizan have scored in their last six matches, including that game in Turkey, with Petar Skuletic scoring 5 goals in those games, including a hat-trick. Skuletic is Partizan's top scorer with 12 goals in 13 league games.

Partizan have nothing to play for in Group C, except pride, and perhaps a slight improvement in their UEFA co-efficient for next year's campaign in Europe, which once again, will probably start with a Champions League qualifier or two.

Spurs have a number of enforced absences. Fazio is suspended following his sending off in the last Europa League game, whilst Kyle Naughton can play tonight, although he has to sit out Sunday's Premier League match against Everton.

Adebayor, Kaboul and Capoue are definitely unavailable. With three games in the next 7 days, Pochettino has to use his squad wisely, and I suspect Michel Vorm will get this game. Nabil Bentaleb is fit, following his ankle injury sustained on International duty in October. Stambouli is surely going to start this game.

Whoever appears, Spurs should have enough to dispose of our visitors tonight, and I'll take them to win by two clear goals. Possible starting line up:- Vorm; Naughton, Chiriches, Vertonghen, Davies; Stambouli, Bentaleb; Lennon, Kane, Eriksen; Soldado

The match referee, and his assistants are from Ukraine. The man in charge will be Mr. Yevhen Aranovskiy, who took charge of our 2-0 win in Tromso last year.

· 10 years ago on November 28th, Spurs ended a run of 6 consecutive defeats with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough. Jermain Defoe and Fredi Kanoute scored our goals.
