No X-rated Ex-Factor here please

Spurs haven't been in the bottom half of the table after 11 games since Hull's first Premier League season 6 years ago in 2008.

Hull, then managed by Phil Brown, made a fantastic start in their debut season in the Premier League, winning 6 of their first 9 games, and even beat Arsenal and Tottenham away in consecutive weeks. Spurs were on their way to "2 points in 8 games", and suffered their third home defeat in four games. Spurs' form was not dissimilar to their current displays.

Hull only managed two league wins in their remaining 27 games, and scraped to survival in 17th place. Spurs did finish in the top half, with Harry Redknapp succeeding Juande Ramos.

Apart from our 5-1 victory at the KC Stadium in August 2009, all our matches against Hull in the Premier League (and last year's League Cup tie) have been close affairs. Hull have yet to beat us at home in the Premier League. Anything could happen on Sunday, and it will be on display live at 4pm to Sky TV viewers.

With three former Spurs players in the Hull City squad, there is a risk of what I call the "Ex-factor", where our former players will want to prove themselves against their old club, and make a firm statement regarding their abilities. I refer, of course, to Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore, and our recently departed club captain, Michael Dawson.

There are plenty of Spurs fans around who state how much the club misses Dawson's undoubted courage, commitment and leadership skills at the heart of our defence. "Daws"' weaknesses on the turn and against pace were often evident, but surely he would have got our defence working more efficiently than has Younes Kaboul.

It will be touch and go for Dawson on Sunday, as he fights to recover match fitness following an ankle/foot injury a month ago at The Emirates, where Hull led 2-1, but ultimately succumbed to a late Welbeck equaliser, after Dawson had left the field of play. "Daws" will be assured of a popular reception from the visiting fans, should he make an appearance.

Both Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone are firmly established at Hull in the midfield. Huddlestone's skills as a "quarter-back" passer of the ball are well known, whilst Livermore is a more combative midfielder, who will play against his old team for the first time, having been a loan player last season with Hull. Neither Huddlestone or Livermore have scored yet this season, and they each have one assist to their name.

Rather surprisingly, having only signed him in January, Hull let Shane Long go to Southampton in August, but I believe it was a "money they couldn't refuse" offer. Incoming players included midfielder Mohamed Diame, who has scored 4 league goals, including one against his old club, West Ham. Hull's other top league scorer, Jelavic also has 4 goals, but hasn't played for 6 weeks, and might also be doubtful to start this game, after a knee injury.

Look out too for Uruguay's Abel Hernandez, who has also chipped in with three league goals, having been signed in the summer from Palermo. Another big summer signing for Hill was Robert Snodgrass from Norwich. Sadly, Snodgrass suffered a serious knee injury on Day One of the season, and is out for another 6 months.

Hull are below us in the table, but that would change if they could win this game. Hull's form has been sporadic, to say the least, and they've managed just one home league win, which is also their only win in their last ten games. They also haven't scored in their last three games.

Arguably, this could be a great opportunity for the Spurs players to redeem themselves after the shocking home performance against Stoke two weeks ago. They will however face, resolve, determination and that "Ex-factor" on Sunday. Steve Bruce will no doubt have spotted Spurs' wekanesses and frailties in defence. I am hoping that it is not an X-rated game for Spurs fans.

Spurs will be without Kyle Naughton, who has to serve a two match suspension for his second red card offence of the season against Stoke. An appeal by the club to the FA failed. With Kyle Walker at least two weeks away from fitness, that leaves Eric Dier to face Hull, and Everton the following week.

Paulinho, who appeared in 30 league games last season, scoring 6 goals, including the goal in our 1-1 draw at Hull, is an outcast now, having lost his form and touch during Brazil's disastrous World Cup. He hasn't figured for his country in six International friendlies since the summer, so he is highly unlikely to appear on Sunday.

Which Spurs will turn up? Will it be the team that has occasionally managed to entertain us this season, but mostly in Cup competition, including Europe, and against lesser opposition? Will it be the resilient and determined team that managed a draw at Arsenal in September, with Captain Kaboul winning plaudits, and not the boos he got two weeks ago?

It should definitely be a goal-scoring Spurs side, who have managed to score in their last 11 games in all competitions. It should definitely be a determined group of players who recognised their need to improve before disappearing to their various International commitments. I hope to see the latter. I'll stick my neck out and say 2-1 to Spurs, but it is impossible to feel confident about our team on current form.

The match referee is Craig Pawson, who we last saw in our 2-2 draw at Sunderland in September.

· 10 years ago, on November 22nd, we lost our 6th consecutive league game under Martin Jol, at Aston Villa. In 11 attempts since, Villa have managed only one home win against us, and that was in January 2008.
