EPL Season Preview – Breaking Up The Big Four

The race for Champions League qualification dominates much of the debate throughout any Premier League season and the 2015/16 campaign promises to be no different.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United will represent England this term when taking on Europe’s elite and chiefly it will be down to Liverpool and Tottenham to challenge the Big Four’s future participation.

The Reds are a top price 11/4 to end the season in one of those precious positions under Brendan Rodgers but Anfield has seen plenty of upheaval in recent months, the feature of which being England winger Raheem Sterling’s £49million move to Eastlands, and whether Liverpool are in position to challenge come the season’s end remains to be seen.

The surprise £29million signing of Brazilian international Roberto Firmino shows Liverpool mean business, and the Sterling cash has already been splashed on Christian Benteke, but Rodgers has a woeful record in the transfer market as Reds boss to date and further, most established stars will need to be recruited.

In contrast, Spurs’ priority will be holding on to their existing prize assets and the pre-season injury to Hugo Lloris looks set to keep the Red Devils at bay for now as they seek for a long-term replacement for David De Gea, the United goalkeeper who is surely bound for Madrid.

At 7/1 to claim a top four place, it would certainly surprise the odds compilers should Tottenham manage it under Mauricio Pochettino but they finished just two wins shy of United last term in fifth place thanks to the goals of Harry Kane and the PFA Young Player of the Season will be key to their chances this time around.

What Spurs may require is a lucrative deal with a betting house. This has become standard practice in the EPL with the likes of Betway and 32Red paying millions in sponsorship fees. Spurs could look to one of the recently licensed UK NetEnt Casino Sites for funds to keep their prized players and even strengthen their squad for a solid push.

Spurs striker Harry Kane

Spurs had better keep Kane if they intend to make the top four.

It would be an almighty surprise should Chelsea and Manchester City find a way to finish outside of the top four, it’s 12/1 and 16/1 respectively about that happening, and it is Manchester United (3/1) that are deemed most vulnerable as Louis Van Gaal continues his rebuilding of the Red Devils.

Those chasing United’s tale will take encouragement from their upcoming European campaign but Van Gaal has a healthy squad to choose from, if yet to settle on his favoured starting eleven, and the likes of Southampton and Everton, next in the betting, face a stiff challenge if they are to be competitive. The Saints, who have lost star midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin to the north-west giants, are 14/1 to earn a place in next season’s Champions League while the Toffees would need to find massive improvement from their bottom half finish of 2015, when Everton, under Roberto Martinez, were 23 points behind United.
