Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season for 2007-2008 - Match 10
It is 19 years since Spurs had such a bad 10-game start to a League season. In 1988-89, we also won just one of those first ten games (against Middlesbrough, who were ultimately relegated). The score ratio was remarkably similar, with 16 goals for and 22 against, compared to 17-21 at present. Spurs did finish that season well though, winning 9 out of their last 14 games, to finish in 6th place. At the present time, we would all take that, I think.
Even in the last memorably bad season, when we were seriously threatened by relegation (1997-98), we were 14th at this stage, having beaten two teams - Derby and Aston Villa.
