Spurs Odyssey Reviews the Premiership Season
for 2015-2016 - Match 8

Two-stroke Eriksen - free kick king!

Christian Eriksen, who scored both our goals at Swansea, directly from free kicks, was your clear man of the match. His goals put him head and shoulders above the rest of the Spurs team. The mark of 8.2 is Eriksen's personal best since he also scored both our goals at Bramall Lane in the second leg of the Capital One Cup, when he carried us through to the final in a 2-2 draw. One of those two goals was also a direct free kick.

Eriksen's previous goal for us was also a direct free kick in a 3-1 win at Newcastle in April. Christian has now scored a total of 24 goals for us in all competitions in 78 starts in all games. 9 of those goals have been scored directly from free kicks. With two free-kick goals already this season, he is on target to beat his record of three such goals in his first season at Tottenham, and four free-kick goals last season.
