Spurs through to Masters Final!
|
|
Thanks to Will Rogers of Masters Football for this exclusive report of how Spurs qualified for the Final of this tournament taking place at Sheffield at 6 p.m. on Sunday 5th September. YOU could win a pair of tickets for the Finals.
SPURS MASTERS DESTROY ARSENAL MASTERS TO BOOK GRAND FINAL SPOT

The last weekend of Masters Cup 2004 qualification and what a weekend! Over 2,500 people crammed into the Planet Ice Arena, Milton Keynes to witness some of the greatest legends do battle on the blue baize for their chance of Masters Cup glory.
Spurs Masters, ever the bridesmaid in past Masters event, fielded a strong side which saw Justin Edinburgh team up with Clive Wilson and Mark Stimson to sure up the defence. Masters debutant Razor Ruddock joined Mitchell Thomas and John Polston to control the midfield and with Terry Gibson and Mark Robson up front, it was the balance of the Spurs Masters squad that made the difference.
Up against Southampton in the first game, Spurs raced to a 3 1 lead, with Edinburgh, Stimpson and Wilson finding the net before Le Tissier s brilliance helped Saints recover to
3 3. Unperturbed, Spurs re-organised and destroyed Portsmouth 5 1 in their second game, Razor and Robson with a brace apiece with Polston inflicting the sucker punch late on. In their final game against arch-rivals Arsenal, Spurs consolidated, knowing their place in the final was assured - a goal from Mitchell Thomas levelled the game after Paul Davis had put the Gunners ahead.
The final against Arsenal was pure theatre. Efficient passing in the previous game by Spurs had worn out their bitter rivals and it showed, as Spurs went on wave after wave of attack, springing their defence numerous times to go in front. Moran netted twice, Ruddock, Robson, Gibson and Thomas all chipped in with a goal each and if it wasn t for Martin Hayes s consolation at the end, it could have been far worse than the 6 1 mauling it ended up.

As it was, Spurs went through and became the first Masters team in history to register goals from every one of their nine outfield players.
Could it be Spurs name on the Masters Cup this year? Find out this September
