Tottenham Champions League dreams continue

Tottenham Champions League dreams continue

The Tottenham Champions League dream continues following the late winner from captain Harry Kane against PSV last night. This has led to punters using the latest william hill promo offers to support them to progress through the group. Group B is now looking a lot more promising for Spurs fans as they now sit in third on four points with two games to play. They face off against both sides above them so qualification is theoretically in their own hands.

Barcelona are still the runaway leaders on 10 points following their 1-1 draw with second placed Inter Milan yesterday. This was a game they looked set to win with 26 shots and taking the lead on 83 minutes following a goal from Malcom. However, it was Icardi to the rescue again for Inter as he has already on numerous occasions this season. He equalised for Inter on 87 minutes, in what was there only shot on target in the entire game. This could just be the result that pushes them through to the knock out stages.

That late goal was disappointing for Spurs, but they had a difficult fixture themselves, that until late looked like yet another frustrating Champions League night for the club. This is following on from PSV taking the lead from the off following a stunning header from Luuk de Jong, just two minutes into the game. Spurs however dominated the match from thereon to the finish, controlling the possession and creating endless chances. Despite this the game went into half time with PSV still leading by one goal to nil.

Tottenham finished the game with 30 shots and 76% of the possession, which shows their domination over the fixture. It was a similar scenario in the previous encounter between the sides. It would be Kane to the rescue again as he put Spurs level on 78 minutes. This was a clever finish with his left foot and was another example of why he is now one of the best strikers in the world.

The game was still level in the final minutes, before a Kane header wriggled into the back of the net to spark celebrations within the Spurs camp and amongst fans. Could this be a goal that changes the season for Spurs? Next up it is Inter Milan and a game Spurs must win. They sit three points behind them, so a victory would put them level moving into the final fixture against Barcelona. It is going to be a tough task for Tottenham to progress through but this was a huge victory for the club moving forward.
