Sponsoring a football club

How Much Does It Cost To Be A Soccer Sponsor?

Boots

In the modern world, each football club has its sponsors. Today sponsorship in professional sports is a common thing. Well-known companies are ready to spend millions of euros on sports teams for mutual benefits from the agreement (promotion and income). Most often, sponsors are well-known brands, companies, government, financial institutions, bookmakers (you can find the best betting sites on OnlineBettingAustralia.com.au). Let's figure out how much does it costs to be a soccer sponsor.

Juventus

Juventus is one of the most successful clubs in Italian football and today has sponsorship agreements with some of the world's most famous and prestigious brands. Jeep is the primary one. A lucrative contract with Adidas has been recently awarded an annual profit of £20 million. In total, Juve cooperates with almost 40 sponsors, from whom it earns €101 million a year.

Paris Saint-Germain

PSG – owned by Qatar Sports Investments – is one of the richest clubs in European football. Qatari owners are investing hundreds of millions of euros for the purchase of players. For just two players – Neymar and Mbappe, the QSI owners have spent almost €400 million.

Paris Saint-Germain

One of the world's largest airlines, Emirates, is seriously interested in the club. A partnership agreement was concluded with PSG in 2005. At the moment, Emirates is the crucial sponsor of this football club. The team receives €112 million per year on average.

Arsenal

Emirates doesn't limit itself to just one football club. From this sponsor, Arsenal receives about €46.3 million annually. The deal is valid until the 23/24 season. Moreover, a new commercial agreement was signed between Arsenal and Adidas in 2019, according to which the club receives, by some estimates, €57-70 million per year.

The Emirates Stadium

Liverpool

The team from the city of the same name has performed under the Carlsberg logo for many years. But since 2010, Standard Chartered has become the main sponsor. Liverpool is one of the most successful English clubs, with numerous international achievements. In 2018, a profitable four-year contract (£ 160 million) was signed with the same Standard Chartered. All in all, the team receives about €117 million per year.

Manchester City

City has a contract with Puma, one of the largest in the world, bringing in €75.3 million a year. In general, Manchester City earns almost €150 million per year from all sponsorship contracts.

Chelsea

In 2016, Chelsea canceled its contract with Adidas ahead of schedule and signed a new one with Nike, under which the club receives €69.5 million every year. The club cooperates with Hyundai as well. Energy drink producer Carabao pays the club £10 million a year. In addition, the Japanese company Yokohama pays £40 million annually. Today Chelsea Football Club is partners with the mobile network Three, whose logo is designed on the front of the players' T-shirts.

Chelsea

Real Madrid

The football club has lots of star players and great popularity all over the globe. That's why the world's largest brands want to cooperate with it. The club recently struck a record-breaking sponsorship deal with Emirates that earns £70 million annually. Real Madrid doesn't seek to conclude many deals. The most profitable only. The contract with Adidas was extended until 2028 in exchange for €120 million per year + 20% from the sales related to the club.

Bayern Munich

It's the most successful club in German football that represents the country in the international arena every season. Agreements have already been signed with Telekom and Qatar Airways, and the contract with long-term partner Deutsche Telekom was renewed in 2015. This deal brings the club $34 million a year. Moreover, Bayern Munich has been receiving €66 million from Adidas until 2030. By the way, according to some resources, this sum may increase to 90 million euros.

Bayern Munich

Barcelona

The club gets the most sponsorship income. The main sponsors are Nike and Rakuten. The deal with the Japanese company brings the team £47 million a year, and the partnership with the mega-brand Nike brings €155 million per season. In total, for the calendar year from sponsorship deals, Barcelona has €261 million.

Manchester United

The club cooperates with numerous sponsors. The most well-known are Kohler and Chevrolet. The income from sponsorship contracts is simply impressive – more than €250 million annually, plus colossal profits from the sale of TV rights, ticket sales, etc.

Bruno Fernandes

Advertising and promotion = modern business. Sweet deals bring an enormous income to each of the parties. And sponsorship in European football has already reached this level for a long time.

Providing world stars from Real Madrid or Barcelona with uniforms isn't only prestigious but profitable. Each football club is a brand, and the uniform is a great place to advertise, watched by millions of fans in stadiums, on TV screens, and the world wide web. T-shirts with the players' names and the sponsor's logo are the most popular items among football fans.

However, if a football club doesn't have an army of active fans willing to spend money on merchandise, it's an illiquid club. No one will provide it with a uniform for free and pay any sponsorship money.
